Employment Law

In the employment law context, firms typically represent only employers or only employees. At FMD, we assist clients on both sides of that line, and have the experience from both sides that lets us capitalize on our clients’ strengths and our adversaries’ weaknesses.

On the employer side, FMD protects our clients’ rights by helping clients build employment agreements that protect the employer’s rights and information while reflecting respect for employees. We help employers pursue enforcement of restrictive covenants and protect their trade secrets. We also help our clients avoid disputes and minimize exposure when disputes cannot be avoided, including conducting investigations, assisting with sensitive terminations or other adverse employment actions, representing businesses in administrative proceedings, defending lawsuits in state and federal courts, and providing day-to-day employment law advice.

On the employee side, FMD represents executives, professionals, doctors, managers, and an array of other employees in resolving disputes involving compensation (executive severance, bonuses, incentive pay), restrictive covenants, retaliation, workplace harassment, wrongful termination, age discrimination, and sex discrimination.
